Lee to Meet With Bush, Aso

President Lee Myung-bak will hold a tripartite meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso later this week, a Cheong Wa Dae official said Tuesday.
The summit will be held on the sidelines of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Peru, Nov. 22, he said.
“South Korea, the U.S. and Japan agreed to hold a tripartite summit on the opening day of the APEC summit in Peru. The three leaders will meet for about one hour to discuss matters of common concern,” said the presidential aide.
The meeting will mark the first tripartite summit of the three countries in two and a half years. In November 2006, Lee’s predecessor, Roh Moo-hyun, held a three-way summit with Bush and then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, also on the sidelines of the APEC summit.
At the top of the agenda will be cooperation on joint measures to fight the financial crisis and North Korea’s denuclearization, the official said.
