Sharp cuts profit estimate on price falls in LCD TVs
TOKYO - Sharp Corp said Monday it has revised downward its group net profit forecast for the current 2008 business year to 60 billion yen from an initial estimate of 105 billion yen due to price falls in liquid crystal display televisions and sluggish sales of cellphone handsets.
The Osaka-based consumer electronics maker also cut its projection for operating profit in the 12-month period ending next March 31 to 130 billion yen from 195 billion yen released in April, on a new sales forecast of 3.42 trillion yen, down from 3.60 trillion.
