Teacher arrested in porn video extortion

Kampar Resort Police detained two suspects, one a high-school teacher, for their alleged involvement in extorting a couple to help produce pornographic material in Riau on Tuesday.

Chief of Kampar Resort Police AKBP MZ Muttaqiem said the police had named teacher Ali Iskandar and Hamizar as suspects and were searching for four other people implicated in the case.

Both Ali and Hamizar are being detained at the resort’s police detention center in Riau where they may face up to six years in jail or a Rp 1 billion (US$83,000) fine.

The malfeasance began, Muttaqiem said, when the two suspects caught a couple, identified as F and D, in a compromising act on Oct. 13.

“The suspects then threatened to report the couple unless they were willing to perform intercourse on camera,” he said, as quoted by Antara news agency Tuesday.

He said the suspects had extort the couple for Rp 1 million to stop Ali and Hamizar from circulating the 34-minute video.

“The suspects also took a mobile phone and a gold ring belonging to the victims after they had already handed over Rp 300,000,” he said. (ewd)
